Do you want to transform your life? Would you like a connection with the divine within yourself to create an intimate and sacred relationship with God? Healing and Transformation: Moving from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary by Dr. Eric Alsterberg is a revolutionary how-to manual that will inspire you to recognize and understand the voice of the Higher Being that speaks within each of us.
Dr. Alsterberg’s Healing and Transformation is no ordinary book. In fact, in some ways I would even call it extraordinary because of its rich offerings of insight and understanding. The primary tenet resonating through these pages is that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Dr. Alsterberg suggests that our purpose on earth is to find the balance between being spiritual and being human. He believes we can achieve this by practicing unconditional love, forgiveness, and non-judgment.
With all the disharmony and conflict in the world and within ourselves, Alsterberg repeatedly states that we can heal and transform both. He offers helpful anecdotes, stories, references, and suggestions on how to both heal and transform as we navigate the throes of life. Specifically, he explores relationships, letting go of our egos, slowing down and regaining balance, the true meanings of masculinity and femininity, and ideas for healing at a larger level, grander than our human existence.
Although the book can be sometimes repetitious and can also be steeped in heavy spiritual undertones that not all readers may be ready for, it is clearly written with mindfulness, positivity, and devotion. I especially appreciated his willingness to explore not only his academic and clinical expertise but his own human journey and how it has shaped his perspective. Mostly, I gravitated toward his passages on healing and becoming whole, physically, mentally, and spiritually. At the conclusion of the book is my favorite passage, a clear reflection of how Alsterberg suggests we can choose a spiritual path to ultimately heal and transform.
“Life is about who you love and who you hurt. It is about who you make happy and unhappy. It is about keeping or betraying trust. It is about friendship regarded as sacred or used as a weapon….It is about discernment rather than judgments. It is about who you have ignored or you have been attentive to. It is about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge, or their opposites. Life is about carrying inner hate or inner love. Most of all life is about using your life to touch other hearts, rather than create harm for another’s soul growth and development.”

Dr. Eric Alsterberg, a writer, psychologist, and certified hypnotherapist, teaches in his book “Healing and Transformation”, how healing ourselves can heal the world we live in. A very thoroughly researched book about transformation and healing on all levels, finding balance within ourselves and within our community and world, and becoming our authentic selves as a woman or man, as a partner, and as a parent. The author discusses ways how to create your life as a masterpiece of joy consciously, which means to proactively create the life you want instead of react to a life you unconsciously create.
The aim of the book is to help you find mental and spiritual well-being and to help you shift your consciousness that will eventually transform the world.

Eric Alsterberg has done his homework for this guide to a fuller, happier life. In particular he focuses healing from our social boxes into a fuller consciousness as men and women. His openness to the spiritual dimension is welcome and rare to hear among psychologists. Though his style lacks a certain flow, the rewards are here. Best taken a chapter at a time, it offers us healing in a time when being human is most essential.

I have read many new age books but this one blends Maslow’s work with the higher consciousness into spirituality that seems very doable while still accomplishing life’s necessary goals. Very straightforward and helpful.
